Scarves and ATCs

A few scarves I made over the past 10 days:

The two scarves on the outside were made using Rico Can-Can yarn.  You get the pattern on the ball band and the scarves are really light and airy, ideal for Spring.  The two-tone pink scarf is made with Sirdar Salsa yarn and using the free pattern from the shop.  The blue mix scarf is my own crochet concoction in Sirdar Crofter chunky yarn and uses up a lot of single buttons to make the flower centers.

Now, to get away from yarn natters and back to papercrafts.  Well, I try not to be a one-trick pony!
Three ATCs I made for the March ATC swap on Cardznscrapz.  The theme was "Green" or something "Irish".  The three little frogs are supposed to be hopping over the lily pads made with my Martha Stewart lily punch.

Final make for By the Cute & Girly

Here is my final DT make for this months "Springtime" challenge at By the Cute and Girly challenge blog:
I have covered the canvas with pale green acrylic paint, used a Hero Arts stamp to decorate it.  Then I lined the 6" x 4" wooden picture frame with fabric, added a fabric-covered chipboard bird, some of my own scrappy flowers and glued the frame to the middle of the canvas.  I dont know whether you would call this an altered canvas or an altered frame!
There is still plenty of time left to enter your springtime craft projects for the By the Cute and Girly challenge this month.  For details see HERE
Dont forget to enter my Blog Candy draw - there has been so much interest and great comments on this that I'm thinking of having a runner-up/consolation prize as well....

Bee Green and Chocolate Card

Happy Patrick's Day to all!   Today I'm concentrating on green makes and stuff suitable for celebrating or present giving.
Here is a little (2" or 50mm in diameter) Paddy's Day Brooch I have made.  It combines all my favourite crafts: Crochet/Jewellery making/Embroidery in the one item.

Now for a card that is a present and that also continues the green theme:   I have adapted the Tea-light card so that it "carries" a bar of Butlers Mint Truffle Chocolate.  The ribbon comes from Poundland; the card from Kanban; the insert paper and sentiment stamp from Papermania; the flowers are my own Scrappy flowers made from machine embroidery left overs!

I would like to enter this in the Tuesday Taggers  "Chocolate Therapy" challengehttp://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.com/2011/03/chocolate-therapy.html
Thats all for today -  dont forget to enter and maybe WIN my blog candy!
Happy Paddy's Day!

Tag and Birthday Card

I had a box of ends of ribbon that were annoying  me so I set myself a challenge to use them up.  Trouble was that the ribbon colours weren't the colours I like or normally use (that's why they ended up in the bits box).  So I made a Tag and covered it with a criss-cross lattice of ribbons-must have used up at least 2 or 3 yards.  Then I topped it with an stamped/coloured image of a 1920's lady from Dimensionfourth. I would like to enter this tag into the Tuesday Taggers Womens Day challenge.

Here is a birthday card I made recently:  The stamp is Papermania, the papers a a mixture from my stash, the lace corners and the embroidered candles are my own makes as is the little beady charm.  Lots of Distress Stickles for the cupcake topping....
Thanks for looking.  Blog candy is still on until 31 March!

2nd Make for By the Cute and Girly March "Springtime" challenge

Just drawing your attention to my blog candy.
Up for grabs until 31 March 2011!

For my 2nd make as a part of By the Cute and Girly DT I have made some Crochet suncatchers:

They are not difficult to make.  You need to make a motif that is circular in shape but also has points.  A 6 or 8 pointed star pattern would do the job.  Then you work rows of 4 trebles(doubles in US) with loops of 6 chains at each end.  At regular intervals you chain 3 and slip stitch to the nearest point of your motif.  If anyone is interested in making something similar leave a comment and I will try and get a pattern to you.   For a finishing touch I added some beads to the suncatchers.  I could have added tails of beads but I dont like it when they hit off the window in the breeze.
There is still over two and a half weeks left to enter the By the Cute and Girly Springtime Challenge.  For details and inspiration just visit here.http://bythecuteandgirly.blogspot.com/2011/03/springtime.html
Have a great weekend!

"Springtime" Challenge

Hi Everybody,

Its the 1st of March, the sun is shining and its time for a new challenge at the By the Cute and Girly challenge blog.  This month the theme is chosen by Carol and its "Springtime"!  As usual there are four great prizes on offer

1. $20 gift voucher from SimonSaysStamp

2. £10 gift voucher from Joanna Sheen

3. $15 gift voucher from Little Snippets

4. Digital image and a digi paper pack (winner's choice)
    from JLJ designs

As always, you can enter this challenge with any craft of your choice as long as you follow the theme.  You can enter more than once as long as you show a different craft each time.  Please check out the full details here

My first Springtime make is a card using two of the sponsor's digi images (boy duck and girl duck) to make a card suitable for an engagement or a lovey-dovey occasion:

I used DCWV Mariposa paper for the background and frame, Papermania Glittered paper for the pond, roses from local Trimmings shop and my own Scrapbook corners.  Plus distress Stickles for the wings and a few touches of Glossy Accents for ducks' headgear.  I have two more Spring-themed makes to share and they will be popping up during the month.  As usual one of them will be the "Mad Crochet Item".....which has been known to turn heads/stomachs.
So get your Spring crafting stash out and make something for this months BTC&G challenge.  March is a very long month so you have plenty of time to enter.  Good Luck!
